As a result, he’s opted to transfer, and it appears he’s zeroed in on a few possible destinations.According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Peters has scheduled three visits over the next few weeks. He’s slated to visit Big Ten foe Illinois this coming weekend, and will follow that up with trips to Bowling Green and Miami (OH).Coming out of Avon High School in 2016, Peters was a four-star prospect ranked No. 61 overall in the country by 247Sports. He was the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the country and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Indiana.247Sports is told Peters sees similarities between the Illini’s offense and Michigan’s and feels good about the playbook and language used in Champaign. Per IlliniInquirer insider Jeremy Werner, Illinois returns just six career pass attempts combined on this quarterback depth chart this coming fall. New Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler was one of the first to show interest in Peters as a recruit when he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Virginia Tech. Meanwhile at Miami (Ohio), their offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Eric Koehler is a Hoosier State native and has tremendous ties to the area.He made his debut for the Wolverines in 2017, making several starts and finishing the season with 672 passing yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.Per the report, Peters likes the similarities between the Michigan and Illinois offenses. As for the other two schools, he has previous connections to their coaching and recruiting staffs.Illinois specifically could use a quarterback like Peters as their returning signal callers have only limited experience.Peters is expected to be granted immediate eligibility to play. He will enter the 2019 season as a redshirt junior.[247Sports]last_img
